Jofra Archer Ruled Out: Just before the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) today (May 9), Mumbai Indians (MI) have suffered a major setback. The team’s lead bowler Jofra Archer has been ruled out of IPL 2023. He is returning to England to focus on his rehab. Mumbai Indians have replaced English fast bowler Chris Jordan in the squad.
Jofra Archer has been running injured since the beginning of the year 2021. He has undergone surgery 6 times in the last 26 months. Archer now has to return to England due to not fully recovering from injury and surgery.
Mumbai Indians has issued a statement saying, ‘Chris Jordan will join Mumbai Indians for the rest of the season. He has been included in the team in place of Joffra Archer. The England Cricket Board is keeping an eye on Jofra Archer’s recovery and fitness. He will now return to England to focus on his rehab.

A minor surgery was also done in the middle of IPL 2023.
Jofra Archer played only 5 matches for Mumbai Indians this season. He had to take a break of four matches only after the first match. Actually, during the bowling in the first match, he had some problem in the right elbow and then he had to undergo a very minor surgery. This surgery was done in Belgium. After this, Archer returned again in IPL 2023 and then played four out of 5 matches.
Jofra Archer’s performance in IPL 2023 showed the effect of his frequent injuries and surgeries. He was able to take only two wickets in 5 matches. During this, he scored runs at an economy rate of 9.5 runs per over. Although his speed remained around 145.
