It is prepared in Hokkaido island of Japan.

Tokyo: The world’s most expensive mango is produced on the island of Hokkaido in Japan. The island of Hokkaido is in Tokachi, the northernmost region of Japan. This very valuable mango farm is in Otofuke, owned by Hiroyuki Nakagawa. This mango is prepared in greenhouse. The price of one mango is 19 thousand rupees i.e. 230 per dollar. Nakagawa packs the mangoes after they are ripe and sends them out. Nakagawa has been growing this mango since 2011 in the icy Tokachi region of Japan’s northernmost island. The cost of one mango is $230.

Nakagawa has made it possible to grow fruit in the winter months. The temperature outside in December is -8C, but the thermometer inside the greenhouse hovers around 36C, making mangoes easy to ripen. A few years after Nakagawa built his farm, he trademarked his mango brand as Hakugin no Taiyo. Its translation is ‘Sun in the Snow’. Hokkaido is a very famous island of Japan.

5,000 mangoes are ready in any given season
The Nakagawa collect snow in the winter months and use it in the summer to cool their greenhouses. Then in winter he uses natural hot springs to heat the greenhouse and harvests about 5,000 mangoes out of season.

I like mangoes but want to grow peaches too – Nakagawa
According to Bloomberg’s report, 62-year-old Nakagawa used to run a petroleum company before the mango farm. Nakagawa says, ‘Initially no one took me seriously. I wanted to make something natural out of nature.’ He started mango cultivation after many years of working in a petroleum company. Nakagawa is not satisfied yet. He likes peaches, which are known to thrive in hot climates. He says, ‘I love mangoes, but oh boy, I love peaches even more.’
